Indianapolis, IN

I finally made this trip! I have been trying to go for work all of January but weather and illness pushed it back until February. I flew out of SYR to ORD and just drove down since all layovers to fly into Indianapolis would have taken just as long.

The drive through Indiana was nice, very flat roads and a variety of things to look at, at least for someone new to the area. One thing you see a lot of on I-65 is Wind Turbines, as far as the eye can see for miles, it’s neat to see so many and they even face different directions. I’ve seen a handful of these in PA but this has them beat by far.

Also on the drive in I saw Fair Oaks Farms, its a huge farm with apparently a lot to do, I didn’t get a chance to visit but they had a lot of billboards and it seems like a fun destination trip to take at some point. Fair Oaks

So, I guess I’ll talk about Indianapolis now, though I didn’t really see Downtown, it seems like a nice city, as long as you have patience for traffic and Google maps sometimes being confused. The place I had to work at was nice, the area was very well kept and there was shopping and manufacturing all over. I got to pass by the Indianapolis speedway, it is really cool from the outside and huge! I also found it a little funny that it has a roundabout in front of it for the regular road, I decided not to race anyone on it though. Might have to make some time to visit the museum if I go again.

I stayed at the Marriot in Carmel, IN while I was there and it was very nice, clean, and quiet. It had a restaurant there and I had steak frites, gotta love a fancy steak with French fries, Blackberry margarita for the drink, also had a soup tomato bisque - ate it too fast for the pic haha. The food was very good though pricy. The area in Carmel is very upscale too, made me feel fancy, lots of upscale shops, restaurants, and office buildings that looked new and clean.

So, I didn’t do a lot of stopping by places, I did try to go out the second night to a brewery but it was very busy, as well as everywhere else, lots of traffic and busy restaurants. So I ended up finding a cute little sushi bar called Sushi Boss and got it to go. The rolls where huge and decently priced, and very delicious, I would def go again if I’m in the area.

All in all it was a mostly work based trip, I had to come home early so I didn’t have a lot of explore time, but it was a good time and I enjoyed it. Also, on the trip back Google decided I should drive through Chicago to get back to the airport so that was its own adventure. It was a good trip though and I got to learn and see a lot. I’ll probably make a post or two about my Chicago trips as I tend to go there the most so far.
